| The 1990 Trophies
Andrew Leman took over the manufacture of trophies this year. Each one was unique, sculpted out of polymer clay. Each trophy was meant to look like a malachite obelisk with tentacles writhing towards the top: the two tentacles on each trophy held up some object emblematic of the category. Below left is the trophy for Best Artifact, and the tentacles hold up a small piece of optical calcite crystal. Below right is a closeup of the top of the trophy for Most Horrifying, showing tentacles removing a happy mask to reveal a skull beneath. |
