played in April of 1986 on the campus of the University of Denver

Investigators uncover a monstrous plot to use the student body of Miskatonic University as fodder for the appeasement of an evil god.

Game Notes
The evil chancellor character was a spoof of the actual chancellor of the University of Denver, who had recently decided to abolish the theatre department and tear down its buildings. Actual construction projects on campus, including the semi-demolished Buchtel Chapel, served as major inspirations in the development of the plot (not to mention playing locations).

Mottle’s office was on the top floor of a tower in old Margery Reed Hall, a very old building on the University of Denver campus. It was only accessible by a decrepit antique elevator, the kind with a sliding grate for a door.

Another primary source of inspiration—and rather an embarrassing one, in retrospect—was Simon’s Necronomicon, replete with proto-Sumerian deities and catchphrases.

This was the first game to be set on the campus of Miskatonic University.
